What does Community mean to you?

We believe that community is not just living or working near each other in a neighbourhood, it is more than that.  Community is tangible; community is cohesive; community brings people together in ways that allow them to do things they couldn’t have done in isolation.

As a local company who not only employs people within the community but operates a business within Oxfordshire, we believe that we have a responsibility to help others within the community to not just survive but thrive in these difficult financial times.

At H2H we have had the pleasure of helping various organisations over the course of the last year including a children’s football team, various primary schools, a girl-guiding group and a women’s football team.

We were approached by the local Girl Guides group in 2018 as they were unable to store all of their group equipment including tents and camping supplies, as their current storage facility was no longer available. Initially they were looking for a reduced rate for storage as they were going to be storing their materials for the long-term but we were able to offer them free storage to help them save their funds for other activities which would benefit their members.

We have now created a wonderful co-operative relationship between ourselves and the girl guides where they are able to help us when we run stalls at local school events benefitting not only the girl guides with teamwork skills but also raising money for the school that we are supporting.

“We have been storing our equipment with H2H for over a year now and it has been such a support to our group. If we had to pay for storage this would have used valuable funds which we can now use more effectively to run activities for our Bicester girl guides. The team at H2H have been so friendly and supportive and we have been happy to run joint community activities with them to raise money for local schools. We look forward to working together on more initiatives over the next year.”

Women’s sport has historically trailed behind men’s in terms of popularity, where women’s sports have not produced on a viewership or financial level, leading to lower wages for players and fewer opportunities for premier female athletes to reach superstar status.

However, that trend may be starting to change globally with women’s sports becoming more popular and available for young girls and women. With this in mind we were really excited to have the opportunity to sponsor Lauren Haynes, the team captain for Oxford United Women’s team for the last season. We felt that she an inspiration to young players and would help to promote the sport to children in the local area.

After being approached by Launton Football Club under 11’s team we were happy to be able to sponsor part of their kit for the 2018/2019 season and support young players as they develop their skills. Launton FC are a fantastic football club who nurture and support all their teams to be well-rounded and confident individuals as well as skilled football players, with respect and fair play at the heart of their coaching.

Over the past year we have worked hard to help support as many local primary schools as we can with their events and fundraising efforts. By providing our financial support this helps to ease the burden on their resources which can then be better spent on classroom essentials and special projects. Throughout the year we have been lucky enough to be able to support Bletchingdon Parochial C of E School, Kings Meadow Primary School, Langford Village Community Primary School, Edward Feild Primary School, Brookside Primary School and Finmere C of E Primary School.

“House 2 Home Removals has been absolutely fantastic in supporting Bletchingdon Primary School over the last couple of years. They have provided an amazing boost to our fundraising capabilities by sponsoring our summer fairs. Their professional and friendly manner make the company a joy to work with, where nothing was ever too much trouble. The school are extremely grateful and we are very lucky to have the support of a local business like House 2 Home, thank you very much to all their staff.”

Jane Mullane – PTA Treasurer at Bletchingdon school

Sometimes at H2H we are presented with situations where we can use our expertise to help those in the community that may need some extra support and assistance. We were happy to help a young person in Bicester with their move and to provide support when they needed it.

“I would just like to say a huge thank you 🙏 to House 2 Home Removals for being outstanding members of the Bicester community. As a local family business they have gone above and beyond by providing their services to a vulnerable member of the community who wouldn’t have been able to move as easily as she did without their help. Brilliant community spirit and social consciousness. 🙏🙏🙏”

Sharon Ackroyd, Student Social Worker – Connection Support

We regularly support local theatre groups and Circus Starr, a children’s charity providing a circus experience for children who may have found this difficult in the past.

By working together with different not-for-profit organisations we are able to share resources and reach an outcome that is greater than the sum of its parts.

Simply put, we are better together.
